Loading... Please wait...Bud set on camellias can vary greatly due to age of the plant and time of year you are purchasing. Generally, plants under 2 years old tend to bloom slow or not at all. Some varieties may bloom the 3rd or 4th year of growth. Most of our plants should bloom within one to two growing seasons after your purchase. Most camellias, especially larger ones that may have already begun their bud set, will not begin to put on buds until late summer or early fall and most are finished blooming by March or April. So camellias purchased late in the season or during spring or summer will not have buds.
Shipments of plants going to the state of Texas require us to remove any flower buds on any size plant. This is to prevent the spread of Petal Blight.
