The other pretty flowering varieties that we sell on CamelliaShop.com are for looks only as they do not contain caffeine, but the Tea Plant does! There are two main types of Tea plants. Camellia sinensis var. sinensis and Camellia sinensis var. assamica.

Chinese Tea

Camellia sinensis var. sinensis is a chinese type tea. Usually a variety of leaf sizes from large to small, these types of tea originated in China, and is today found wide spread throughout the tea producing regions of the world. This type of tea is usually associated with green, oolong and black teas. These plants can be maintained at 2-3' tall or they can be used as a dense hedge gaining heights of 8-9' tall or better if left alone.

Assam Tea


Camellia sinensis var. assamica is a very fast growing large leaf tea and is usually known for it's high quality black teas. It originated in the Assam region of India. These plants can grow into large shrubs and trees. 8-10' or better.



LOOK FOR THE TEA SYMBOL to make sure the plant you are purchasing is indeed a Tea Plant.
